Our goal is simple: tell you which dash cam fits your car, your budget and the way you drive, and be honest about the trade-offs.
1. We start from the specifications
For every model we collect the manufacturer’s listed specifications: image sensor, resolution of each channel (front, rear, interior), frame rate, field of view, parking mode type, power source (battery or supercapacitor), maximum memory card size, GPS and Wi-Fi. These values appear exactly as published in our tables.
2. We read what owners report
Specifications do not tell the whole story, so we look for patterns across verified buyer reviews: night clarity, heat failures, app reliability, mounting problems and long-term durability. One angry review is noise; the same complaint from many owners is a signal.
3. We match products to drivers
Every pick names the driver it suits best (commuters, rideshare drivers, truckers, families, people who park on the street) and the compromise you accept with it.
What we do not do
- We do not accept payment for placement or reviews.
- We do not claim hands-on testing we have not done. Our analysis is based on specifications, documentation and owner reports, and we say so.
- We do not show prices that go out of date: always check the live price at the retailer.
Keeping articles current
Dash cams are replaced quickly. We review our guides regularly, replace discontinued models and update the date at the top of each article when we do.
